Serving Rowan, Iredell, and Cabarrus County
Pregnancy is one of those blink-and-it’s-gone seasons. A maternity session gives you a way to remember the glow, the anticipation, and the love surrounding your growing family—without the stress of trying to “figure out how to pose” or “what to wear.”
My maternity portraits are designed to feel relaxed, guided, and beautiful—so you walk away with images that feel like you, at your best.
The best time for maternity portraits is typically between 28–34 weeks. Your bump is nicely defined, and you’re often still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the session.
If you’re expecting twins, have a high-risk pregnancy, or you’re simply feeling uncomfortable earlier, aim for 26–30 weeks.
Pro tip: Book your session as soon as you hit the second trimester so you get the date/time you want (especially for golden hour or weekend sessions).
If you’re thinking, “I’m not photogenic” or “I don’t know how to pose,” you’re in excellent company. Most of my clients feel that way at first—and then they’re shocked at how good they look.
Here’s how the experience usually flows:
1) Pre-session planning You’ll get guidance on wardrobe, location options (studio-style or outdoor), and what will photograph best for the look you want.
2) The session (guided + relaxed) I’ll direct you with flattering poses, gentle prompts, and simple adjustments—so you don’t have to guess what to do with your hands, shoulders, or facial expression.
3) Image selection + products After your session, you’ll choose your favorites from a curated gallery. If you want prints, framed wall art, or a keepsake album, I can help you select what fits your home and style.
What to Wear for Maternity Photos (Easy, Flattering Options)
Wardrobe can make a big difference—but it doesn’t have to be complicated.
Best choices:
• Form-fitting dresses to highlight your bump
• Flowy gowns for movement and a “wow” look
• Neutral tones (cream, tan, soft pink, white, black) for timeless results
• Soft textures like knit, lace, satin, or chiffon
Avoid (if possible):
• Busy patterns and small stripes
• Large logos
• Super bright neon colors (they can reflect onto skin)
Bring 2 looks if you can: one classic/timeless outfit + one bold statement outfit.
A few small things make a big difference:
• Hydrate (skin looks better when you do)
• Moisturize hands + belly (they’ll be featured)
• Get rest the night before if possible
• Simple nails photograph beautifully
• Pack the basics: water, comfortable shoes, a touch-up kit, and a snack
If you’re doing hair and makeup, keep it slightly more defined than your everyday look—camera-friendly doesn’t mean “too much,” it just means polished.
No modeling experience required. These are my go-to tips:
• Angle your body slightly instead of facing straight-on
• Hands go above + below the bump (it shapes beautifully)
• Relax your shoulders and take a slow breath
• Chin slightly forward and down (the most flattering trick in the book)
• Connection beats perfection: looking at your bump, your partner, or closing your eyes can be incredibly powerful
And yes—I’ll coach you through all of this during the session.
Absolutely. Many clients love a mix of:
• Solo maternity portraits
• Partner + maternity
• Family maternity (siblings included)
These images tell the whole story—your baby is already loved by an entire team.
If you’re expecting and want to capture this season with portraits that feel confident, elegant, and true to you, I’d love to work with you.
